Recipe of Mingau de Fuba com Queijo


Corn meal soup with cheese


REGION: Minas Gerais

INGREDIENTS:
 
For each cup of milk:
1 tbs of corn meal.
1 tbs granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon of margarine
1 small piece of your favorite cheese diced into ¼-inch cubes.
PREPARE:
 
Place the cold milk in a saucepan. Stir in the cornmeal, sugar . Stir well until completely dissolved.

Place the pan in medium-heat and boil gently for about 10 minutes or until mingau gets thick. While boiling, stir constantly with a wood spoon.

Serve: place the hot mingau in a bowl, stir in the margarine and cheese cubes. The cheese will melt while you enjoy this snack.
Mingau de fubá used to be very common for breakfast in place of bread.
 
SERVE:
 
Serve hot in a bowl.
